In our middle school, students are exposed to hands on activities in an active classroom environment with the goal of preparing them for more advanced studies at the high school level as well remediating any identified academic or learning deficits, where necessary.
English Language Arts and Literacy (ELAL)
Core knowledge and skills are taught using the ELAL curriculum with grade specific standards of instruction in the areas of reading and writing.
Starting in the fifth and sixth grade students, focus on computation, number theory, estimation, and measurement. This gradual progression of mathematical concepts sets the foundation for further mathematical studies in grades seven and eight, which in turn focuses on the underlying principles of pre-algebra and basic foundational geometry.
Our goal is to help students become inquisitive and to question the world around them. We encourage observing, challenging and thinking out of the box, and always asking, “what if?”. Frequent labs enhance and engage the students in the scientific process.
Here, the focus is on global awareness and social responsibility in the service of building a foundation toward becoming a global citizen. There are exciting field trips to help make the curriculum come alive.
The electives tap into the many interests of our middle school students and are designed to further their growth and the development. We have offered electives such as gaming, improvisation, art and music, drama and playwriting, and community service.
