Cold Noses and Warming Hearts: Therapy Dogs Are a Welcomed Addition at Cornerstone Day School
Oct. 4, 2016 – Creature Comfort Pet Therapy first arrived at Cornerstone with therapy dogs in October, 2016. Students are visited weekly by the therapy dogs and participate in animal assisted activities. Visits with therapy dogs can decrease anxiety and increase socialization and communication. Research shows interaction with these pets releases endorphins that have a calming effect because the act of petting produces a relaxation response and provides comfort.
