Cornerstone’s Opportunity for a Real-world Experience
We are excited to announce the official launch of our new school-wide initiative, CORE, and CORE+, this September. CORE stands for “Cornerstone’s Opportunity for Real-world Experiences.”
The CORE and CORE+ are comprehensive transition programs that prepare students for life after graduation through employability skills training. It emphasizes career awareness, job exploration, and professional skill development by placing students in authentic workplace environments.
This partnership will help students gain vital skills and support various local businesses and facilities through volunteer support and community engagement.
The primary objectives of the CORE and CORE + internship program are to:
- Provide students with career exploration opportunities.
- Develop technical, interpersonal, and self-management skills.
- Expose students to real-world employment expectations.
- Help students transition smoothly into adult life, including employment or further education.
- Promote responsibility, punctuality, professional attire, and workplace etiquette.
The internship duration, hours, and start date will be mutually agreed upon before placement. Students may be scheduled for part-time shifts during school hours or based on the business’s availability. This is a non-paid internship.
CORE is for students in grades 11 and 12, and CORE+ is for students 18-21.
Our inaugural class started the first week of school and is having a positive experience already!
