What They Say

“Though I didn’t know it at the time, CDS meant everything to me. Ultimately, I was the one who made the choice to turn my life around and go down a new path.”
Student, Fort Lee, NJ

“I want to personally thank you for all of your help with this very difficult family. Their son is in great need of treatment and I know both parents are comforted by the high level of care that he will receive at Cornerstone. For them I know that they see the 24/7 hot line as a godsend: Mom said that it’s the first time that she can really sleep at night.”

Case Manager, Essex County, NJ

“Cornerstone meant a lot to me. It taught me how to cope. It has truly made me the person I am today, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Student, Union, NJ

Dancing Under the Stars!

Prom: Under the Stars

All spring our high school junior and senior class students wait with anticipation for Prom. There is always excitement leading up to prom as the students prepare for this magical night. Early in the school year our senior class advisor Ms. Ripoll meets with the students to plan the evening. Under her direction, the students planned fundraising activities to help reduce the costs. The students sold snacks, Candy Cane grams, Valentine grams, and even hosted a concession stand at the school musical, selling snacks and water.

Prom Boutique is another activity that our students look forward to during prom season. Each year the school community donates a variety of items from gowns/dresses, shoes, suits, and accessories to help the students reduce the costs associated with attending prom This is an annual event where students enjoy trying on the clothes and accessories and selecting their prom attire. Prom Boutique was also a tremendous success this year.

Prom was on Friday April 28, 2023, at the Westwood in Garwood. The theme for this year’s prom was Under the Stars, a theme selected by the senior class, influenced by astrology and the zodiac.

The night was as fun and magical as everyone had hoped. Students arrived with their guests, in limos, others drove themselves and some were chauffeured by their parents. Thanks to our Prom Boutique, all students were in their finest attire. Both students and chaperones danced through the night, had their pictures taken by a professional photographer enjoying photo props and favors! It was an amazing night “Under the Stars,” no one wanted the night to end!

For our seniors, the prom kicks off graduation season. Our seniors enjoy a variety of activities including a senior trip to Great Adventure, a senior luncheon, a yearbook signing, and then graduation!

For the juniors it marks the beginning of them becoming the most upper-class students at the school, ready to take on the reins and becoming the school leaders.
