What's Happening at Cornerstone? News and Updates

Parents, Students and Educators
What They Say

“Though I didn’t know it at the time, CDS meant everything to me. Ultimately, I was the one who made the choice to turn my life around and go down a new path.”
Student, Fort Lee, NJ

“I want to personally thank you for all of your help with this very difficult family. Their son is in great need of treatment and I know both parents are comforted by the high level of care that he will receive at Cornerstone. For them I know that they see the 24/7 hot line as a godsend: Mom said that it’s the first time that she can really sleep at night.”

Case Manager, Essex County, NJ

“Cornerstone meant a lot to me. It taught me how to cope. It has truly made me the person I am today, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Student, Union, NJ

The Year Is In Full Swing … Cornerstone News November 2024

October was packed with many Cornerstone experiences, especially those focusing on the college application process. With the support of Mr. Paterno, our Dean of Students and School Counselor, our Seniors have been working on several activities associated with the college application process. They are completing their college applications to meet deadlines, some using the common applications, requesting recommendation letters from their teachers, and writing their college essays. Some students had a November 1st deadline and diligently worked to meet it.

In addition, some seniors took the October SATs, and some 10th and 11th-grade students recently took the PSATs at Cornerstone.

On a separate topic, keeping in line with social-political events, Cornerstone students participated in an election to seat the student council for this school year. Students engaged in campaigns with election posters and speeches encouraging their peers to vote for them. After a day of voting, our new Student Council representatives have now officially taken office.
